The University of Girona and the University Residence have an agreement to offer places with special prices for foreign students. The residence is divided into different types of apartments. Each apartment is furnished and has a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, central heating, telephone (direct line), Internet access and a TV antenna. Other services are also offered, such as student common rooms, a fitness room, a TV and video room, etc.

Apart from the accommodation offered by the University, rooms may be available at hotels in Girona, youth hostels (Alberg-residence “Cerverí de Girona” and Equity-Point Girona Hostel) and there are also renting options in some private homes (idealistic, Pisocompartido, Easypiso, Loquo, Rightmove).


Girona is well connected to the rest of Spain and Europe. A 100 km from Barcelona, 60 km from the French border and only 30 km from the Costa Brava, Girona enjoys a convenient location. The plane, rail and road networks allow the city to be well connected, avoiding the excesses of other cities with more population density, but with the same advantages. The arrival of the AVE (high-speed train) completes the connection between all the catalan capitals and the rest of the Spanish State and also enables the link with France.

The opening hours of most shops from Monday to Saturday from 09:30-13:30 and 16:30 to 20:30, although franchises and shopping centers do not close at noon. Supermarkets and specialty shops are usually open from 10:00 to 22:00. As for meals, lunch is usually initiated 13:00-14:00 and dinner 20:00-21:00. During the weekend the mealtimes are a little later. The general, commercial and savings banks are open 08: 15-14: 00 on weekdays. Savings banks also open on Thursday afternoon 16: 30-19: 45 October to April.
